Reptile food locusts can provide a challenge for the reptile to catch or chase the locust which can help to maintain them active and alert. You can feed fruits and vegetables to locusts to keep them healthy. This is called gut loading. Gut loading is a process where you feed the insects high-nutrient foods that are then passed on to your pet reptile when they are eaten. Nutrobal is a powdered supplement that contains calcium monophosphate, vitamin D3 and other vitamins and minerals. ProRep Calci Dust is an alternative supplement that also contains calcium and vitamin D3, as well as other vitamins and minerals. Using the correct size of locusts for the pet is also crucial, as smaller locusts are easier for the pet to digest and require less energy.
