While barley straw does not eliminate existing algae, it does prevent their regrowth. In some instances, barley straw treatments have actually resulted in a rise in the growth of aquatic plants because there are no longer any algae to compete with them. In Ethiopia"s highlands, mixed barley-livestock farms use barley straw as feed for livestock and mulch to conserve soil and water. To lessen the diet"s nutritional (mainly energy) density, straw is frequently added to dairy heifer diets to reduce the calorie content and minimize over-conditioning.
In order to ensure enough fibre intake and to promote rumination as a means of minimising acidosis and milkfat test depression, low inclusion rates of straw are frequently utilised in the diets of nursing dairy cows. The price is expensive for the product
It's a great product for our rabbits. They go nuts when we put the fresh straw in.
Usually fresh like to see soft stalks , because guinea pigs dont blink their eyes and can spike themselves towards an eye infection.
My chickens and rabbit love it
Its one of the cheaper products you stock for rabbits and seems to be natural.
Good, as above. Less content than previous purchases sign of the times I guess!!
I like that the straw is packed into the bag. I like how long it lasts. Its good.
Clean, easy to use
