Hamster
Facts
There are two main types of hamsters - the Dwarf and the Syrian hamster. Dwarf hamsters are half the size of Syrian hamsters and their lifespan on average is 1-2 years old. Syrian hamsters grow from 4-7 inches (10cm–18cm) and have an average life span of 2 -3 years old.
Environment
Dwarf hamsters will require a breed specific, escape-proof cage or glass tank as they can escape from many cages. Syrian hamsters will require a larger cage, as they are bigger and more energetic.
Seasonal Tips
Position your cage away from direct sunlight, draughts, radiators and televisions. Provide extra bedding in the winter, as hamsters like to burrow.
