Guinea Pig
Facts
There are three main types of guinea pig breeds. The American, the Peruvian and the Abyssinian. The American has a short coat whilst the Peruvian is known for its long coat. The Abyssinian is unlike any other guinea pig breed as its coat grows from eight rosettes arranged in two lines across the body making their coats quite harsh in texture.
Environment
Guinea Pigs can be kept indoors or outdoors. Keeping them indoors in a large plastic cage is a popular choice.
Seasonal Tips
Guinea pigs do not like the cold. In the winter months, consider housing them indoors or inside a shed or garage for protection from drafts and cold temperatures.
