David receives his Easter basket from Betty McLorn, Bright Eyes Animal Sanctuary and David Mark, Jollyes Petfood Superstore

This Easter David Mills from Ballinderry got more than just a crème egg, he celebrated Easter Sunday with a luxury filled Easter basket courtesy of Jollyes Petfood Superstore.

During a regular visit to his local Jollyes store in Lisburn, David entered a raffle in aid of Bright Eyes Animal Sanctuary and much to his surprise he won!

Bright Eyes Animal Sanctuary is an independent charity committed to the rescue of unwanted and abandoned animals. Priority is given to mistreated animals and those whose owners have died or are ill. They mainly provide housing for cats and dogs but are willing to help any animal in need.

The in-store raffle raised an impressive £862 for Bright Eyes, which will be put to good use. Betty McLorn, who has been a volunteer at Bright Eyes for over 10 years, and was in charge of the raffle, explained: "The money will be used for the benefit of the animals, the upkeep of 50 dogs and 40 cats is expensive and we are all so grateful to Jollyes and their customers. We have an excellent working relationship with Jollyes their support is invaluable."

Jollyes Lisburn store manager, David Mark, said: "We have supported Bright Eyes for several years and I was really encouraged how generous our customers have been this Easter. The sanctuary does such a wonderful work for local animals and it is great to be able to help them to ensure the wellbeing of abandoned pets."

David's winnings were also put to good use, with his Easter basket David was able to wine and dine friends and family at his annual Easter Sunday party. David said: "I never win anything! It was great that my friends and family were able to enjoy all the goodies from Jollyes too."

Since the Lisburn store opened David has been a regular customer, he explained: "I have two German shepherds and a cat so I shop in Jollyes a lot. From the first time I visited Jollyes I have always received friendly service and excellent pet advice."

There are 11 Jollyes stores in Northern Ireland, all of which are open Monday - Saturday from 9am to 6pm and on Sundays 1pm to 6pm. The Lisburn store is in Blairs Industrial Estate on Altona Road. For more information about Bright Eyes Animal Sanctuary contact them on: 028 6638 8885
