Free Pet Care Education for Bristol Pet Owners

24 April 2007

Since November pet care has been a hot topic due to the Government's introduction of the Animal Welfare Act. Over the last two weeks pet owners in the Bristol area have been educated on how best to look after their pets in accordance to this new act. The pet advice road show, sponsored by Jollyes Petfood Superstores, was organised by Bristol Dogs and Cats Home with help from the RSPCA and Bristol Dog Wardens.

Residents in Knowle, The Mall, Yate, Southmead and Lawrence Weston were all invited to visit the road show which not only gave essential pet care advice but also provided low cost neutering and free worming and flea treatments for their furry companions. Attendees were also given goodies from Jollyes, such as free poop-scoop bags and Frisbees.

Toby Love, Jollyes Bristol store manager, said: "The welfare of each and every pet is of the utmost concern to Jollyes. We aim to educate and help pet owners to ensure that they have happy, healthy animals. Events such as the Animal Welfare road show are vital and Jollyes are always happy to support them in any way possible."

Bristol Dogs and Cats Home was founded in 1884 and has been growing ever since. What started as a shelter just for dogs now accommodates cats, rabbits, ferrets, birds and other small animals. Their Assistant Manager, Lee Coombes, stated: "We are, as always, very grateful to Jollyes for their continual support and have been able to pass on all the donated items that Jollyes gave us onto the people we have met on our road shows."

Jollyes has 39 petfood superstores nationwide and its staff are always willing and available to give pet advice on animal care and food, indeed many of the store managers have qualifications in pet nutrition.

The Jollyes store in Bristol is located on Aldermoor Way, in Longwell Green. For more information telephone 01179 602960.
