Jollyes Petfood Superstore in Newcastle has teamed up with the Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter to host a family fund-raising day for the Shelter's Claremont Road Building Appeal.
The Shelter currently receives between 4,000 and 6,000 stray, neglected, injured or abandoned animals per year which require re-homing and are often in need of veterinary care.
The Claremont Road Building Appeal is raising funds to repair the Claremont Road shelter which houses some of the 400 cats and dogs at the Newcastle Dog and Cat shelter and to build new heated puppy and kitten rooms and three new kennel blocks. There will also be a new cattery and treatment room to provide health checks, vaccinating and scanning.
The fund-raising event on Saturday 30th June runs from 9.00am to 6.00pm and there are some great prizes to be won, including a signed Newcastle United football shirt, a DVD/TV, a CD player, an Elite fish tank and stand and much more. Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet some for the dogs currently being cared for by the shelter and looking for a new home. Food and refreshments will also be available.
Leyla Rutter, Chief Executive at the Dog and Cat Shelter, said: "We are very grateful to Jollyes Petfood Superstore for hosting this event and for providing many of the pet related prizes. The Shelter desperately needs the funds to continue to provide our re-homing service and Jollyes support with events such as this is invaluable in helping us to continue caring for these needy animals."
The event takes place outside Jollyes Petfood Superstore on West Denton Retail Park, West Denton Way, Newcastle. Store Manager, Tim Bennett, said: "We are more than happy to support this worthy cause and on top of the excellent competition prizes we will also be offering visitors some great in-store offers on the day. The Shelter provides an invaluable service to animals in need and you might even find a pet you could offer a home to!
